High quality LED strips vs low quality LED strips

Posted on

At this point in time, we do not have to tell you why LED lighting is considered the most efficient and creative form of lighting nowadays. There are many devices that use it. It is easy to find in the market a very wide offer in LED strips, with different types of chips, different voltages, powers, color or monocolor, etc. But… what sets a quality led strip apart from a poor quality one?

For Goodwork as LED manufacturers, the first and most important is the manufacture of led.

What is a LED?

LED (an acronym for “Light Emitting Diode”) is a semiconductor diode, which converts low-voltage electrical current through its chip into light.

The manufacture of a LED is based mainly on the creation of the chip. The light-emitting chip is the main part of an LED and is enclosed in a transparent or tinted polyepoxide (resin) wrapper or capsule of the same color as the light it emits. These can have different shapes and sizes. The chip is the main component of LED lighting and its quality depends not only on the consumption and the duration of the lamp but also the color and intensity of the light.

Depending on how the LED is manufactured we will get one type of chip or another:

– SMD 3528 (3.5mm x 2.8mm): each LED emits between 6 and 7 lumens
– SMD 5050 (5.0mm x 5.0mm): each LED emits between 18 and 20 lumens
– SMD 2835 (2.8mm x 3.5mm): each LED emits between 22 and 24 lumens
– SMD 5630 (5.6mm x 3.0mm): each LED emits between 40 and 45 lumens

It is essential to invest in the manufacture of quality LED chips or your project can be damaged and cause a great loss of time and money. At Goodwork we use high quality and efficient chips, such as the Nichia or CREE, which use materials that offer superior performance. Goodwork LED strips, for example, reach a power and efficiency level of a total of 5,670 lumens / meter and a light efficiency of 236 lm / w, higher than the average LED manufacturers in Spain.

In addition to the manufacture of the LED, there are other features that we have to take into account:

1.) Number of LEDs and distance between them:

The greater number of LEDs per meter, the greater luminosity and homogeneity we will obtain. An LED strip with chips too far apart will not only affect luminance, but will also cause unpleasant and unsightly cones of light.

Goodwork LED strips have up to 420 LED chips per meter, which means seven times the number of other LED strips on the market. The lack of “natural” luminosity in cheaper LED strips is often artificially increased by increased amperage. This has a negative effect on the life of the LEDs.

2.) PCB or Printed Circuit

The printed circuit connects each LED chip and supplies them with power. Since the circuit is made of copper and is one of the most expensive elements of the strip, saving is produced by reducing the amount of copper used.

Look for LED strips made with thicker circuits, as they will be much more durable. The better quality LEDs dissipate the heat more efficiently and the strips do not bend with the same ease. At Goodwork we can have LED strips with a PCB from 5mm to 30mm.

3.) Resistances:

There are LED strips that are equipped with small resistors and this additionally charges the chips. Consequently, its useful life is shortened.

The Goodwork LED strips have the proper resistances, so you get a strip with a long life and excellent light output.

4.) Coating:

Over time, LED strips may have cracks along their brittle coating. Apart from the fact that its aesthetic appearance leaves much to be desired, this creates a health and safety problem as there are exposed parts and you can notice the harmful odor of the plastic since one enters the room.

Goodwork LED Strips have a stable and odorless coating and consist of different degrees of IP protection: IP20, IP65, IP67 and IP68.

GOODWORK LED MANUFACTURERS

At Goodwork we are LED manufacturers so we invest time and effort in researching and developing products with a high visual comfort index and highly efficient. The new LED strips from Goodwork will allow you to save energy in up to 80%, a wide range of possibilities, since they are installed quickly and easily. They allow an infinite number of applications: energy-saving programs, architectural and decorative lighting, passageway lighting and emergency exits, etc.

If there is something common to all our LED Strips is that they have:

• Long life.
• High luminous intensity.
• High color reproduction index of light.

We present our range of LED strips, where you will find interesting, effective and personalized products that will meet your personal expectations and those of your business:

GW Flex Strip and GW Flex Strip Power are versatile and economical LED strips. They adapt to all types of spaces and are the ideal choice to replace old fluorescent tubes. In addition, with the GW Flex Strip CRI> 90 you get a very high index in color reproduction, compared to the CRI> 70 offered by other LED manufacturers in Spain, this strip becomes the ideal for use in the retail sector and food sector. Sectors where it is necessary to reproduce the color tones of the products with great fidelity so that the experience of the user is more satisfactory.

GW Flex Strip Super Bright achieves a luminous intensity of 420 leds / meter.

With GW Flex Strip RGB you will be able to adjust the color tone to create different atmospheres.

GW Flex Strip RGBW offers you monochrome in its different versions of warm, natural and cold white and color reproduction to change according to the mood; and with GW Flex Strip Multikelvin you can create different types of environment by regulating the white tones you want in each moment with a spectrum between 2700º and 12.000º Kelvin. The perfect solution for maintaining a healthy circadian rhythms. To regulate the color temperature according to the time of day and your head rest when you have to rest and activate when you have to activate.

GW Flex Strip Ultra is the most powerful LED strip we have. Thanks to the quality of the chip SMD 5630, which emits between 40 and 45 lumens per LED, it achieves a very high level of efficiency: 126 LEDs / meter which makes a total of 5.670 lumens / meter.

Do not hesitate and move to LED with Goodwork.
