What is an electrical audit?

The audit of the electric bill should be a common practice in every company and city council, which not only wants to reduce energy consumption, but also to ensure the safety of its systems, facilities and, above all, people. It is necessary to identify the electrical reliability and make a comprehensive evaluation of the current energy system to know in detail the situation in which the institution is located. This information is very valuable to be used as a measurement tool when making changes and improvements in existing technology in order to reduce electricity consumption. At Goodwork we tell you what an electrical audit is, with what objectives we make them and what their advantages are.

ELECTRICAL AUDIT: WHAT IS IT?

An electrical audit is a critical and systematic examination that omits a competent study of the present energy system. At Goodwork when we are going to carry out street lighting projects, we carry out measurements and diagnostics prior to the design and installation of lighting to detect the weak points to reduce the electric bill of customers in both residential and industrial sectors. As lighting manufacturer, we are at the forefront in the optical and light sector designing projects ranging from consulting, to electrical audit and lighting study, design, installation and maintenance. When conducting an electrical audit there are a number of basic objectives:

• Check that the current legislation is complied with.

• Identify those points that do not conform to existing regulations and regulations.

• Establish a planning of necessary improvements to be made to achieve an optimum electrical maintenance system in terms of safety, reliability, etc.

• Identify possible risks.

Electrical audits help companies and municipalities optimize their systems and resources. In order to promote operational excellence, it is necessary to go beyond simple conventional auditing. You should not settle for switching traditional lighting to low-energy bulbs, you should work on finding customized solutions. It is at this point, where Goodwork, as experts in the optical light sector and energy efficiency, can help you by defining the problems that are affecting the safety and maintenance programs by developing highly efficient solutions. The electrical audit allows:

• Improve the safety of people and equipment and / or facilities.

• Detect risks, reduce incidents and resolve inadequate procedures.

• Reduce operational costs. – Improve productivity.

GOODWORK ENERGY AUDIT

At Goodwork we have been designing LED street lighting projects for years. In order to design the lighting of public lighting, it is necessary to comply with very strict and specific regulations: specific lighting levels according to the type of road, levels of light pollution, etc. Which are often overlooked for failing to do an optimal lighting study previously.  By means of street lighting we can make the city not only have economic and ecological benefits (our LED lamps reduce consumption by 80% and do not pollute), but also for the health of plants, animals and people.  Through the latest technology and innovation and together with a team of professionals who advise and accompany each stage of the process, being aware of the vital importance of lighting on people’s lives, we managed to find the ideal solution for each need.

At Goodwork we use photometric measurement systems in situ and follow a very meticulous performance methodology. What does this mean? That in order to manage and analyze the data of an energy audit we have developed a mobile unit that, circulating in the municipality like any other vehicle, captures all the necessary information to carry out a complete study and in record time.  The data collected by the mobile unit are processed by specialized personnel using its own software that allows to elaborate:

1- A luminous map of the municipality, with point value of luminance and GPS position
2- A map with the mean values of:

• Luminance

• Minimal illumination

• Maximum illumination

• Medium uniformity

3- A map with different types of lighting (HPS, HQI, Halogen …)

4- A map of evaluation of the tracks according to the type of lighting.

5- An inventory of the points of light:

• GPS position

• Height of the luminaire

• Type of lighting

6- Inventory 100%: parks, gardens, pedestrian zones, stairs …

7- Exportable data in SHP (GIS), Excel and KML

Now that you know the importance of having a correct electrical audit for the success and achievement of your project, do not hesitate and move to LED with Goodwork.

How much is saved with LED lighting?

In Goodwork we have told you many times about the advantages of LED lighting over traditional lighting. The advantages of LED technology for your health , for the environment and for your pocket. Advantages that, without a doubt, you will notice in the savings of your home, your business and your city.

Goodwork LED products are ecological, applicable and adaptable to all types of lighting projects. Its use reduces consumption from 40% to 90% while maintaining the same performance of conventional lighting.

How much can I save with LED lighting?

The consumption of a sodium vapour luminaire is 657 kw/year=78.84 €/year, while a LED consumes 146 kw/year=17.52 €/year. In other words, the LED lighting savings is more than 60 euros per year for each luminaire. And the savings from not having to replace the luminaires due to the long life of the LEDs are approximately 17 euros per year for each luminaire. This makes a total saving of 100 euros per year for each luminaire. An immediate saving.

At Goodwork we offer you the possibility of implanting and replacing sodium or mercury vapour luminaires with new LED lamps. The old sodium vapour luminaires (and similar) consume a power of 150W, with 20% more than the nominal power when these are becoming obsolete. In addition, the duration of a high pressure sodium vapour luminaire is 3 years, whereas LED bulbs have a useful life of almost 14 years.

It is also proven that the use of colored filters is more versatile with LED lighting, avoiding the use of expensive filters in dichroic. And with respect to halogen, expensive diffusing lenses are avoided.

There is no doubt that, in these times, we are all concerned about spending on our bills and savings in the home. Thanks to the efficient use of energy, LED bulbs consume 65% less than low consumption bulbs and 90% less than traditional incandescent bulbs. Therefore, the LED savings is on average, compared to traditional lighting, more than 70%.

How is LED Savings achieved?

We are heading towards the era of smart cities, an era in which we become aware of the responsible use of energy and respect for the environment; and one of its key points is smart lighting, i.e. the replacement of traditional light bulbs by LED bulbs, which are much more respectful of the environment. In this way, by saving LED bulbs, energy is optimized by making good use of resources through the installation of more intelligent lighting.

  1. High efficiency: LED lamps use 90% of the energy they consume to produce light and only 10% to produce heat. In the case of conventional incandescent lamps, the values are reversed: 90% produces heat and 10% produces light. Considering that, unlike all conventional luminaires, only a small part of the energy consumed by LED lamps is wasted emitting heat, energy savings amount to between 50% and 80%. This means that the initial investment pays for itself quickly. LED lamps do not need to be heated beforehand and therefore have an immediate start, do not increase the ambient temperature and are much more efficient.
  2. Very low consumption: LED lights at home, in your business or in your municipality achieve significant economic savings that can reach up to 80% of the electricity bill, with a rapid amortization of the investment.
  3. Long life: traditional light bulbs can be easily broken and suffer failures due to “melting”. Their degradation is gradual until their luminosity finally falls below 70%. On the other hand, LED lighting for the home can last between 12 and 14 years, with an operation of 10 hours a day, 365 days a year. The useful life of LEDs increases savings both in replacement and maintenance.
  4. Instantaneous ignition: LED on and off is instantaneous and unlike other conventional systems is not degraded by the number of ignitions, which makes them very energy efficient and economically. In addition, thanks to the saving of LED bulbs in your home with respect to the heat generated, the costs related to air conditioning are reduced, since the place is kept at room temperature.
  5. Replacement of old luminaires: Thanks to the wide range of shapes and colours of LEDs, they can replace almost any luminaire. LED technology adapts to the aesthetic needs of each lighting design, both for its flexibility, and for its ease of regulation in intensity, as in tone. Unlike fluorescent lights, for example, this technology withstands low temperatures (up to -40 º), which makes them suitable for installation in places such as cold rooms.
  6. Savings in installation costs: LED lighting, is the perfect lighting for installations where maintenance is very complicated, restricted access or expensive, due to its easy and simple implementation and replacement. The installation is done with cables of much smaller caliber, which translates directly into savings in wiring and installation. In addition, as mentioned above, thanks to their long durability, they do not have to be constantly replaced. That’s why there are big savings in maintenance costs.

Tips for achieving energy savings

  • Replace traditional bulbs with LED lighting: we are heading towards the era of smart cities and one of their key points is to find ways to save energy by optimizing and making good use of resources, such as, for example, through the installation of intelligent lighting. LED technology has countless advantages over traditional lighting and there is no doubt that, in these times, we are all concerned about saving on our electricity bill. Thanks to the efficient use of energy, LEDs consume 65% less than low-energy bulbs and 90% less than traditional incandescent bulbs.

LED lamps use 90% of the energy they consume to produce light and 10% to produce heat. In the case of conventional incandescent lamps, the values are reversed: 90% produce heat and only 10% produce light. Considering that, unlike all conventional luminaires, only a small part of the energy consumed by LED lamps is wasted by emitting heat, the energy savings account for between 50% to 80%. This means that the initial investment pays for itself quickly. LED lamps do not need to be warmed up beforehand and therefore have an immediate start.

It is more than proven that the use of LED bulbs in the home is among the most useful ways to save energy. Compared to other types of lighting, they are the safest and longest lasting. As they are not made of filaments that can break or burn, they have a useful life of about 50,000 hours, compared to the 2,000 hours of a standard bulb, ie between 20 and 30 years in a use of 10 hours a day 365 days a year. This means big savings in maintenance costs as it does not have to be constantly replaced and is the perfect lighting for installations where maintenance is very complicated, restricted or expensive. In addition, the electrical implantation of LED lamps is done with much smaller caliber cables, directly translated into savings in wiring and installation. In short, the energy saving with LED is more than remarkable.

  • Use natural daylight hours: light accounts for 20% of energy expenditure in our homes. Luckily, we live in a country where we can enjoy almost 3,000 hours of sunlight per year in most of the country. If we organize ourselves well and take advantage of the daylight hours to do our domestic chores at this time, it can be one of the best and simplest ways to save energy. You can even enjoy your leisure time, having the pleasure of doing activities such as reading, painting, sewing, working in our garden, etc. in the sunlight.
  • Turn off the lights: make sure that the lights in your house are always off when you leave and have the habit of turning off the light switch every time you leave a room and you will see how this is one of the most efficient ways to save energy, just by paying a little attention.
  • Power off and unplug everything you don’t use : turn off everything that consumes energy when you’re not using it. Sometimes we think that it is more comfortable to leave the devices on or at rest, but it is much more the expense that is produced in energy that in the time that we can spend in turning them on again instead of leaving them in stand by. In almost everything, in computers and laptops, for example, you can use the sleep mode and they will end up turning off when they have not been used in a while.
  • Do not have chargers continuously plugged into the network: if you work with a laptop, tablet or smartphone, get used to plug these devices only when they have low battery.
  • Acquire appliances with energy certification: if you are going to renew your appliances, bet on the use of more ecological, efficient and low-consumption appliances for your home. An energy-efficient appliance will consume as little energy as possible for a given task. It is true that when it comes to acquiring them they are a little more expensive, but if you calculate what you can save in their useful life (approximately 10 years) it means more than 200 euros a year.

Never buy appliances larger than you need and use the dishwasher and washing machine with cold water. Today’s soaps and detergents are powerful enough to be able to wash at lower temperatures. Besides, your clothes will last longer in a better state. Find out about the manufacturer’s recommendations to make good use of the appliance at the time of maintenance and cleaning to prolong its life.

Tips for saving energy in winter

With the arrival of the cold it is normal to increase the energy expenditure in our homes, with the consequent outlay on our bill. In winter the electricity bill skyrockets, so it is very important to keep in mind that there are ways to save energy that we can achieve with a few simple gestures. So that your pocket does not suffer more, in Goodwork we have some tips that will surely be useful for you to achieve a more efficient and responsible energy consumption.

  • Raciona the use of heating: make sure you have windows and doors well closed to keep the heat and do not have the heating on in rooms where you are not. Use thermostats to set the on and off times. Restrict its use at night, when you are in bed and put curtains and carpets so that the cold does not get into the floor or walls. Properly isolate your space.
  • Adapt your clothes to the winter: it seems obvious, but sometimes we forget and want to be in lighter clothes than the weather actually allows for that season. Try to keep warm in winter so you don’t turn up the heat.

Don’t hesitate anymore and go to LED with Goodwork.

Loriguilla: gaining on quality of life with the change to LED lighting

At Goodwork, what matters most to us is the people and therefore we are experts lighting your day. When natural light disappears at dusk, street lighting is essential to our well-being and comfort and it is the first “crush” when you arrive in a city at night. It can be quite a disappointment to arrive at night to a place that you hoped to be charming and that suddenly the light of the street is scarce and unpleasant. Make the difference between falling in love with a place or not.

At Goodwork we do not stop at creating a generation of light that improves the human experience. Not only the relationship of the human with other human, but also with their environment. We know that LED lighting is the best option to replace conventional lighting, both due to the fact that energy consumption is reduced by 80%, freeing this large economic burden from municipalities; But also by the advantages of LED lighting.

LED technology is considered the most effective and in these more than 20 years of experience that we have as manufacturers of LED lighting, we know how light affects our biological rhythms and also, those of plants and animals.

Many customers have relied on us to renew the lighting of the public streets of their cities. On this occasion, we want to present the street lighting project of the City Council of Loriguilla.

Loriguilla is a municipality of the Valencian Community, in the region of the Field of Turia, that relied on Goodwork for the implementation of the change of conventional street lighting by LED technology. Our goal was to comply with the Energy Efficiency Plan and ensure that the locality saved on the electric bill, recover the investment made in a short time and directed towards economic and ecological sustainability.

The product used to replace the previous lighting by high quality LED technology was: GW LED Street Plate. An LED plate that stands out for its high efficiency and savings. In addition, thanks to its low heating rate, the service life of LEDs is considerably longer (up to more than 50.000 hours). Existing lampposts were maintained and traditional 100-watt and 150-watt bulbs of sodium vapor were replaced by 388 LED bulbs, 30, 45 and 55 watts, throughout the city center. With this change of lighting, not only were thousands of euros saved, but also 28 tonnes of CO2 annually were released into the atmosphere.

All Goodwork products are eco-friendly and environmentally friendly by not emitting harmful agents into the atmosphere. This is even more important if you are lighting residential areas such as parks, etc. Areas where children and old people, are especially alive, especially to be cared for. This happened precisely in the case of Loriguilla, which illuminated Plaza España, a square that is at the exit of a school, and also all around the City Council and the Church of San Juan Bautista.

Do not hesitate and move to LED with Goodwork.

Homogeneity: the base of good lighting

Light affects how we perceive and how we move in a given space. It even affects the way we relate to others. Surely you have noticed that in environments where lighting is more comfortable, in places where you feel more comfortable and the weather is more relaxed; People move more freely, come closer to talk and interact with each other feeling at ease.  On the contrary, in those spaces where the lighting is more intense and bright, it bothers and tends to put more distance between us and the environment. We do not act the same way and we can feel disoriented.

Homogeneous light is essential to harmonize spaces, interior and exterior. We will be able to enjoy more proportions, textures, lines and shapes, without glare, or sudden and unwanted shadow cones.

Traditional lighting, in general, has little angle aperture and poor focusing ability. It projects unfocused circles and creates black areas in the center, so it is not precise lighting, nor easy to control. It is not recommended lighting for residential areas because, both pedestrians and drivers, lose quality of life. Conventional lamps focus approximately 30-50% of their light output at a single point, yet as this particular spot dazzles, the areas around it get dark to the observer. Goodwork LED lighting lamps have a high degree of homogeneity thanks to their wide opening angles and the high quality of their borosilicate glass lenses, which meet the highest standards and requirements of the market. LED lamps that bathe with a cozy lighting the area to be illuminated.

Homogeneous lighting not only helps increase the visual comfort of the users, but also makes them feel more secure and live their city more. It is demonstrated that those areas where illumination is not good, in the sense of insufficient light, many dark areas, low intensity, etc. The rate of vandalism, robbery and crime increases. With Goodwork LED lighting we have made public areas, such as parks or groves, which used to be more insecure areas for their neighbors at sunset, now are quiet areas that they want to enjoy any time of day.

And if we refer to lighting in work areas, we must put a lot of emphasis on the study of the creation of spaces that provide more comfortable the performance of tasks that require greater involvement and visual concentration. A correct index of homogeneity is essential for the good performance of our functions and also for our health and productivity. In addition, it should be designed to create an atmosphere appropriate to the different needs of each area and user. Inadequate lighting causes illness and discomfort such as: fatigue, dizziness and headaches, anxiety, uncomfortable positions of the body, lack of concentration and even accidents, in the worst case. Goodwork lamps have 120º beam angles so they produce a completely reliable illumination, with the highest priority being the improvement of working conditions and performance, reducing the risk of accidents.

As expert LED lighting manufacturers, we will always offer you the most efficient ergonomic optical solutions. Do not hesitate any more and go to the LED with Goodwork.

Will it rain today or not? LED tell you

When at Goodwork we tell you that LED technology can do much more for you than you imagine, believe that it is true. Today you can find it in many facets of your life, facilitating the routine without hardly noticing its presence, but its benefits.

LED traffic lights, zebra steps that illuminate with LED to let you know when to cross, face treatments with LED masks, clothes with fabrics converted into LED screens, etc. Even so, we never cease to amaze and continue to appear new products and applications of LED lighting systems, which improve our quality of life and our way of interacting with others and the environment. Because LED technology is a world of research and innovation yet to be exploited and with infinite possibilities.

The latest invention that has caught our attention and that we want to talk about, is the smart umbrella. An umbrella that by means of an LED light warns you of the weather that will do. Surprised? Well we assure you that this is not science fiction, it is a reality carried out by the Korean startup Opus One, which has developed Jonas, the first smart umbrella that connected to your Smartphone as an App plus offers a weather forecasting service.

It works with four batteries, you can find it in different colors to choose and thanks to the vibration and the change in the color of the LED that blinks at the top you will know if it is going to rain or not. If the light is red, it will rain, if the light is green, calm, you can leave Jonas at home, because you will enjoy a sunny day.

But that’s not all, Jonas also has other clever options. How to warn you through a message to your phone if you forget, because the umbrella perceives that you are moving more than ten meters; Or vibrate in the event that it is the mobile that you are forgetting somewhere. But in addition, for the most clueless or those who go with a thousand things in the head, has a system that through sound and vibration, will make you detect the phone but remember where you left. How many times has it happened to be alone at home and not being able to call your own cell phone and be looking for it for a long time because you do not know where you put it? Well with this smart umbrella, this would not happen to you anymore.

For now we will have to wait to meet Jonas, since it is only being marketed in the United States, China and Japan, but to prepare the journalist of the weather predictions of the TV because Jonas may be the new “weather man.”

What is a LED?

There are technologies that change the way we see the world and move in it. Technologies that change the way we communicate and relate to others and the environment. Technologies that change the way we do things and substantially improve our day to day. Technologies such as LED lightingsystems.

The light has a great evocative capacity and at present, there is no show, event or fashionable place to be prized, that does not have an LED lighting design thought to the millimeter to awaken our senses and our emotions. Because with LED lighting you can do anything. However, we are accustomed to seeing LED lighting projects together, in mosaics; but… do we really know what an LED is?

WHAT DOES LED MEAN?

LED is the acronym for “Light Emitting Diode”. An LED is a semiconductor diode, whose main characteristic is to convert into light the electric current of low voltage that crosses its chip. The first LED was developed in 1927, although it was not until the decade of the sixties when it was used for industrial purposes. Since then research in this sector has not stopped, and thanks to the advantages of LED, LED are considered the most efficient form of illumination, being used in many devices that bring a higher quality our life.

At the outset, the main use of this technology was limited to the manufacture of red LED, which was given the use of indicating whether an electrical or electronic equipment was connected to the electric current or was in operation. Later they began to make informative panels with LED lighting. Innovation has allowed today to be able to buy LED with the ability to reproduce all the colors of the spectrum visible to the human eye.

At Goodwork, as an LED manufacturer, we are continually working on the research and design of LED chips that significantly increase their luminous efficiency. We use high quality and efficient chips, such as the Nichia or CREE, which use materials that offer superior performance. LED chips reaching a power level of 5,670 lumens / meter and a light efficiency of 236 lm / w, higher than the average LED manufacturers in Spain.

HOW IS AN LED MANUFACTURED?

From a physical point of view, an LED is a miniaturized bulb, devoid of filament or any other type of harmful element or material, which is one of the great advantages of LED lighting over other technologies that pollute the environment. An LED has a solid construction, so it has greater resistance to shock and vibrations.  There are different types of LEDs and the color emitted by each diode depends mainly on the semiconductor material that has been used. Each chemical compound of the semiconductor material used in its manufacture determines how the LED light is, as it allows the emission of a light of a specific color, corresponding to a certain wavelength of the electromagnetic spectrum visible to the human eye.
Basically we find three types of color temperature:

        • Cold white: 5800K. More intense white light, ideal for car parks or storage rooms, for example.
        • Natural white: 4500K. An average intensity considered “light day”. Improves concentration, productivity and performance. Recommended for offices and offices.
        • Warm White: 3000K. A dimmer light, more throwing to warm orange tones, ideal for lounges or rooms where you are looking for a more relaxed environment.

The light-emitting chip is the main part of an LED and is enclosed in a transparent or tinted polyepoxide (resin) wrapper or capsule of the same color as the light it emits. These can have different shapes and sizes. From the chip split two terminals that cross its base and go outside to connect to a direct current electric circuit, so that the LED is directly polarized. When the LED is new, the shortest terminal corresponds to the negative (-) pole of the chip, while the longest corresponds to the positive (+) pole.  The chip is the main component of LED lighting and its quality depends not only on the consumption and the duration of the lamp but also the color and intensity of light. LED lighting is undoubtedly the best bet for the future and the best choice, both for your health and well-being, as well as for your pocket.

Do not hesitate and move to LED with Goodwork.
